Snowshoes and Winter Camping

Nick: Last weekend I went to Reno to see my brother, Greg, and his family. They were blessing their third child and first son, Anton. While in Reno Greg planned an overnight snowshoeing trip in the Sierra mountains. Greg, Greg's friend Chuck (the camera man) and I left about noon on Friday, had lunch in Truckee, and parked the car at Sugarbowl ski resort. We bought a $15 lift pass to ride the ski lift to the top of Mt. Lincoln and that's where the snowshoeing began. We hiked 2.5 miles to a cabin (Benson Hut) maintained by the Sierra Club and we spent the night there. The next morning we retraced our path back to the ski resort and the car. The weather was great, the scenery was beautiful and it was fun to go camping with Greg again. The only downside was that I got two silver-dollar sized blisters on the balls of my feet.

We carried our packs (not too heavy for only one night)

The Benson Hut. We slept upstairs in the loft.

Sounds like a great trip Nick. The scenery looks stupendous. Were there other people in the cabin? It looked like it was really maintained. I really enjoy your pix of the trip and also the blessing.
