Today Max celebrated his 2nd birthday!!! We went to church and then had a small family party. We had a dinner of hot dogs, corn on the cob, and watermelon. We then opened a few presents.
Who knew that Sponge Bob stickers could be so fun?
The bath toys were a big hit, too.
His main present was a sand table with a few trucks to play around in the sand with. Sadly, I took Mabel shopping with me to get it and she was so excited that she couldn't keep her mouth shut. Thinking that Max wouldn't catch on, we just kept telling her to be quiet. However, they all found it this morning unwrapped. It's hard to keep things a surprise anymore.
Sam is our child with the best imaginative-play skills, so he took Max's present very seriously.
Max went back and forth on a frog cake and a Sponge Bob cake this year. Finally, yesterday morning he committed to the frog cake (which relieved me since I had to mix a lot fewer frosting colors).
Max still hasn't learned to blow very well, yet. So it was hilarious watching him try to blow out his candles. He was blowing as hard as he could for about a minute, but his bottom lip overlaps his top lip so all the air goes straight up. Finally Mabel and Sam had to help out.
And since yesterday was the 24th of July celebration, fireworks are allowed this time of year, so we lit off a few fireworks for Max's birthday.
The boys loved the race car fireworks. Even after they were lit, they rolled them all over the driveway. (Check out how light it is.....we have to start fireworks around 8:30 or it's just way too late for the kids....not as impressive, but the kids still get excited!)
Even though we only had about 6 fireworks to light off, you can see why we start them so early. Happy birthday, sweet little Max!

I can sure tell that Max definitely knew it was HIS birthday....he looks so very happy and excited. Thanks for including us in the birthday with your cute pix. Loved them! Happy Birthday Max!
I'm glad the frog cake won out....it's very cute indeed! I've never liked Sponge Bob. Frogs are much "cooler"!
Ash, you should go into the cake decorating business. You are so awesome in that dept.
Looks like a ton of fun. Happy B-day, Max!
Happy Birthday Max! We hope you like the outfit we picked out for you and that it fits. Hopefully we can see you soon. That was a cool frog cake that your mom made for you. Lucky guy :)
