Weekend Fun

This has been a wonderful holiday season for us. Nick has had nearly two weeks off of work from holidays and vacation. It has been wonderful for me (the best Christmas gift I could ask for) to have Nick around. Yesterday was Nick's last day off work so we took advantage of our zoo membership and took the kids to the zoo. It was a lot of fun to see how active some of the animals get in the winter time. It wasn't busy at all and we had a great time.

Mabel and Sam admiring the camels.

The Asian Highland cats were especially active. We've never seen the cats so lively. It was a lot of fun to see them roaming around, climbing trees, and pacing as they waited for breakfast.

Sam was really interested in the turkeys. They were just roaming around the zoo and Sam wanted to touch them every time we saw them.

Annette stopped by last night after her shift at Body Worlds. It snowed about 5-6 inches last night, so we took the kids to the elementary school hill and went sledding this morning. We knew Mabel would like it. Sam usually hates that kind of thing, but he really enjoyed himself this time. The kids only cried once when we let Mabel and Sam go down the hill by themselves. They picked up speed and when they hit the powder at the bottom, the sled tipped and both went face first in the snow. They still wanted to sled after we wiped off their faces, so I guess it wasn't too bad.

Climbing back up to "do it again" as Mabel would say.

Max got a new sled for Christmas and even enjoyed riding around on the top of the snow. Doesn't he look cozy and dapper in his new snow suit?
