Saturday morning we took the kids on a hike in Big Cottonwood Canyon to Donut Falls. We had been there a few years ago and decided that it was fairly easy and short enough that we would try it with the kids. The hike is 3/4 of a mile one way and the kids did great. Mabel walked the whole way, Sam walked all the way to the Falls but had to be carried part of the way down and even Max was able to get down and do some walking on the flat parts.
The waterfall gets its name from a hole in a rock that the water falls through. We didn't get too close to the waterfall since the rocks were slippery and a little too dangerous for the kids. Not to mention that it was crowded up around the falls. We must have seen at least a hundred other people on the hike! The kids didn't really care about the waterfall anyway. They were very excited about throwing rocks into the river. Overall, it was a fun outing and going up to the mountains was a good way to beat the record heat we had in the valley (101°F).

Sounds fun. I remember doing hikes before with the young'ns. Glad you had such a good time. Just a note from "Papa"
Great action shots of the kids on the trail. Looks like they were having a wonderful time. Glad you had a safe hike and made it back unscathed.
Looks like you had a fun family outing. I loved the picture of the kids running - so cute.
