Garden Status

Our garden is doing okay this year. We have more zucchini than Nick can handle, no red tomatoes yet, lots of green beans and cucumbers, and no peppers yet either.

This is our little pumpkin patch that is really fun. We have little pumpkins on the left and jack-o-lantern pumpkins on the right. It is fun to see the pumpkins grow everyday. I think we should have enough for the whole family!

This pumpkin picture was taken yesterday, but it is noticably bigger today.

Sam is teaching Max to ride his 4-wheeler. It is very cute.

Life is kind of hitting hard lately. Our air conditioning went out in the van this weekend. It is now fixed, but it was super expensive ($$$). The kids broke a basement window by throwing rocks at it ($$). We had to get a new computer ($$$). Nick needs a new vehicle--the windows don't work and are rolled down an inch--good for summer since his air conditioner doesn't work, but bad for winter driving ($$$). My bedroom dresser is falling apart and it's a trick getting my clothes in and out ($$). And last but not least, I'm not just posting at 2:00 a.m. because I like staying up late--I've got a toothache and can't get back to sleep ($$$). All of that is taking away from my kitchen remodel fund! But we are healthy and happy in every other sense. I just keep reminding myself of Alma 39:14 "Seek not after riches nor the vain things of this world; for behold, you cannot carry them with you."

Ashley, just an idea: You can find good, cheap things on KSL.com like a dresser and a computer. Good luck with everything. Fran

Such is life in the two years we have lived here we have spent $1200.00 on our air conditioner for the house. I swear you can buy it new in Utah for that price, here that cost is just to fix. Who cares about money right we just need enough to live.

Your garden looks wonderful! I had 6 pumpkin plants and not one single pumpkin, so sad. We also had 6 zucchini plants only 2 grew I needed to live by you so I could get some of yours. The only thing that grew for me were tomatoes and peppers. Keep up the good work.

A fun thing to do with the pumpkins is write each kids name in one with a pencil (just break the skin) and it will grow up with their name on the side it is really fun for the kids. My mom did it every year.
