Nick was a good sport taking out the plum tree. It was a lot of hard work for him, but I'm tired of my garden only getting 4 hours of sunlight a day. The plum tree doesn't produce good fruit, so the only thing it was good for was shade, just in the wrong spot. Nick said to me at one point, "Your garden better grow 600 pound tomatoes."

We still have to take out the trunk, obviously, but it should be easy in comparison. Luckily a friend and I were able to put all the branches in the neighborhood dumpsters while Max napped and our kids played. We're planning on planting an apple or pear tree to replace it this fall. Even though it has only been gone a day, the yard seems a lot less friendly-kinda weird not having it around.
