Whirlwind Week

Between school, house, yard, dog, and kids we are still finding time to party!  Last Saturday, we went to Provo to celebrate 5 birthdays!  Ryan, Tyler, Makenah, Grandma, and Ruby.  We reserved the church and had plenty of room to spread out.  Mom and Brooke did a great job getting the party together.

Ryan turned 40 this year....Yes, the man with the braces and the fresh returned missionary look turned 40!!!  I made him a twinkie cake with yes, 40 twinkies.  There's an old family joke about him throwing a chocolate chip cookie against the wall when he found out everyone else got a twinkie for dessert.

Tyler brought him a jazzie to try out, since he is now in the market for easier mobility in his older years!  It is always fun to spend time with family no matter when or what the occasion!

Mabel has to read 20 minutes everyday for Kindergarten.  It was a struggle getting her to want to read everyday, but now that it is part of the routine, she doesn't mind and even wanted to read with daddy after the boys got in bed this week.  I thought it was precious how she cuddled in.

The kids are getting their preparations in place for Halloween.

Sugar is a handful.  I'm finding that the words "damn dog" just kind of roll off the tongue....I better be careful with my constant audience.

I took the kids to Gardner Village to see the witches.  The weather was gorgeous!

On Friday, we headed over to Tooele to the pumpkin walk.  It was small, but tons of fun!  The theme was "The Pumpkins of Dr. Seuss".

Horton the elephant with his clover were popular along with Cat in the Hat, Yertle the Turtle, and Thing 1 and Thing 2.  My personal favorite were the star bellied sneeches.

They had a straw bale maze.  Amusingly enough, the kids couldn't figure out the maze and ended up walking over the bales to get out.

Nick took the kids out for dates this week.  Mabel got to go out for ice cream and the toystore to replace a special Aerial doll that Nick had given her several years ago (Sugar chewed her legs off).  Sadly Mabel had not felt well that day and threw up three times on her date....once in the Toys 'R Us bathroom and twice in the back of the truck (two days later the truck still smells like barf).  The boys wanted to go together so Nick took them bowling.  They had a great time and Sam even got a higher score than Nick!

Sam's high score is probably the result of his amazing technique.

After bowling, McDonald's fit the ticket for lunch.  Mabel, Alex, and I went to The Quilted Bear.  Mabel wanted to go Mini golfing or to the movie, but it wouldn't have worked out with Alex along for the ride.  So hopefully next time, Mabel and I can go on a date by ourselves!

So much fun. Your kidlets are so lucky to have parents like the two of you.

Thanks so much for the great post.
