Halloween 2011

Halloween was a blazing success.  I'm exhausted, the kids are exhausted, and the dog is exhausted, but we all had fun.

Nick ended up taking the morning off to help out with the kids.  Mabel and Sam had a Halloween parade at the same time.  So Nick went to Sam's and I went to Mabel's.

Sam playing a game at preschool.

Mabel's parade wound around the gym.  Afterwards, I went to her classroom to help out with the party.

Making skeletons.

Lezlie, from our ward, was in charge of the party and did a bunch of cool science experiments with the kids.   She got most of her ideas from Steve Spangler on You Tube.  After the parties, Mabel, Sam, and even Max came home with a big bag full of candy each.  Then we went to my old work place and desk-or-treated with Kristen.  The kids got a ton of candy there, too.

We came home and made some slime.

I added food coloring which in turn, stained the kid's hands green.  It worked with Max's frog costume and Sam's dragon costume, but Mabel wasn't too thrilled about green fairy hands!  Ooops!

Alex was a cute little Frankenstein.

When we got home, Alex, who didn't get much candy (because we kept him in the stroller), grabbed Max's bag and started rooting for something good.  Trick-or-treating was really fun this year.  The kids were really into it and old enough that we didn't have to haul them up or down the stairs at each house.

And of course, they got more candy than a parent knows what to do with.  Kristen came over and helped us out by handing out candy.  Sugar was all hyped up since the doorbell kept ringing.  And once we got home, the kids had more fun handing out candy than they did collecting it.  They all had a pretty good sugar-buzz before settling down for the night.  Whew...tomorrow should be a piece of cake compared to today!

Wow!!! Looks like great fun all day long. As for Tues being a piece of cake in comparison, well, that all depends on how much sugar you let them put in those little bodies. The after Halloween highs can be worse than the before build-up. Take it from a professional that deals with this times about 22 every year. As for Alex, I hardly recognized him....he looked so old all spiffied up. I think you should do his hair like this all the time...I love the look. Have a great week!

What a fun filled day! I don't think you could have packed anything else in. I am glad you put pictures up because I was wondering how your day was and what the kids were for Halloween!
