Last Thursday, we departed from our home for a great adventure in Reno. We left early Thursday morning for the 8 hour drive. We had to make several potty breaks along the way. This is our first one at Wendover.
We then stopped for lunch in Elko and let the kids play for about an hour at the coolest park we have ever seen.
We got to Reno around 4:30 and met up with Greg and Kris's family for the annual Rib Cook Off at the Nuggett Casino. We then got to our timeshare later that evening to find goodie bags! The kids were really excited to have a bag completely full of fun snacks just for them.
Max kept wondering about the lights of the nearby casinos.
After a great breakfast on Friday, we took the kids to a great city park. There were geese, a pond with turtles, frogs, and fish, a cool dinosaur playground and much more.
The adventurous ones climbed the rocks at the park.
The kids loved playing with their cousin's chickens. They all got to carry one egg into the house. Max dropped his egg on the way inside and was completely devistated.
Aunt Kris kept the kids well fed with lots of fun food.
After naps, the kids enjoyed some great swimming fun in their front yard.
That night, we drove to the Reno temple. The kids really loved watching the bunnies hop around the temple grounds and even tried to catch one.
On Saturday, we departed early for a hike to Grass lake. It was 1.5 miles each way, but the kids did better than I expected.
There was a waterfall along the way.
Alex thought it was a great time for an afternoon nap on the way down.
On Monday we went to Lake Tahoe. It was gorgeous and tons of fun. The kids immediately started playing in the water and sand and it kept them entertained nearly all day.
The kids even got a chance to catch a few crawdads with some sticks, string, and a hot dog.
Uncle Greg's friend brought a great raft/boat that fit all the kids.
Playing at the lake all day can sure wear a kid out.
Sam caught himself a little lizard at Lake Tahoe. We brought it back to Reno, but decided to release it before driving home. We had a wonderful time enjoying some great sites around Reno and really enjoyed spending time with family. Nick's Aunt Elaine and Mom also flew out for the trip as well. It was a lot of fun getting to know Elaine better. Thanks to Greg and Kris for such great hospitality. We had a great time.

Wow! Looks like a grand vacation! Wish Dad and I could have gone with you. Oh, we also stopped at that same cool playground in Elko, for a potty break, on our way to Calif. In June. We didn't play however. Everyone was too big and old in our company. So glad you all were little and young and could take advantage of it.
This looks like "great big" fun. We love Lake Tahoe. We're glad you had a fun time.
