It seems that I have a hard time blogging lately and I think it's because we're so busy that there is hardly anytime to document it. In the past few weeks, we've been to the beach.....at Daybreak. The kids spent the better part of an afternoon playing in the sand. Sadly, they wouldn't let you get in the water.
Nick and I ran the West Fest 5K. The kids participated in the fun run.
We went to the Gateway to enjoy the fountains.
We went on a bug hunt and found some horses to feed.
This picture ended up out of order, but here's Alex at the beach.
Mabel picking grass for the horses.
Sam found a big, black beetle while on the bug hunt.
We went to Salina for the 4th of July and stopped in Gunnison to have our picture taken with Mater. Someone fixed up an old tow truck to look just like him.
Once in Salina, we enjoyed playing in the pool and yard. The kids spend the majority of their time on the trampoline.
Nick and Grandpa even taught Sam and Max how to shoot a BB gun.
We went to the park for a few of the annual festivities.
And we enjoyed two great firework shows. The first was in Aurora where we ended up right below the fireworks. The second was almost as grand in the driveway.
The Salina parade changed it's route this year and it went right by my parents house. We couldn't have asked for a better seat in the parade!
The kids got tons of candy since there was no competition.
When we got home, I started to pick some peas and found an infestation of slugs. I told the boys to find all the slugs. When it was time to go in the house, Sam turned his bucket of slugs back into the garden and said, "Slugs like the dirt." So much for my plan of ridding the garden of slugs.
We finished our bathroom remodel a few weeks ago and now I'm planning on painting our small bedroom upstairs this week. Mabel will move in with Alex for a few months while I paint the boys room and then Alex will move in with the boys. Mabel should have her own room around the time school starts. Between entertaining kids and house projects, we're staying busy.
