Mabel's Birthday

Mabel celebrated her birthday with her preschool class on Wednesday.  She requested that the treat she got to share with her classmates be cupcakes so I made them and went to class to help pass them out.  Sam and Max got to enjoy the preschool activities also.  Mabel was so excited to finally have her turn to be spotlighted in class and loved having me come and help out.  She thanked me several times.

Mabel wanted a Dora birthday this year.  Here is her Dora birthday cake that Mabel helped make.

On Friday we went to the Layton Classic Fun Center for the big party.  After working up an appetite playing in the Pirates Cove and on the Bounce toys, we had a pizza lunch with root beer.  Make sure you check out the video at the top to see all the fun bouncing, climbing, and skating that we did.

Mabel was very excited for the presents.  And so was Max.

Mabel got a cash register with toy money, some Dora toys, a Ken doll (I told her Barbie now had a boyfriend, but she said, "no, it's Barbie's dad"), bed sheets, a cool custom made apron (from Aunt Kristen) with lots of kitchen gadgets, and a My Little Pony baby and stroller (from her Reno cousins).

Mabel had tried roller skating the last time we were there over Thanksgiving, but this time we all decided to try it.  Nick and I hadn't been roller skating in many, many years, and it showed.  Kristen, however, was quite adept on her skates.  Sam and Max and Mabel were eager to try, but they'll need more practice.

Sam and Max had cool skates that clipped on over their shoes.

We spent some time on the arcade games.  Here Mabel and I are trying to shoot the teeth out of a clown's mouth.

Mabel giving her best cowgirl pose.  Giddy up!!

Mabel got a rousing rendition of Happy Birthday and then quickly blew out her five candles.

Mabel, always a good hostess, had party favors for her guests.  One of the favors was really cool sunglasses.

Even Alex couldn't resist the ultra-cool glasses (well, OK, he didn't have a choice, WE couldn't resist)
Max tried his hand at Skee ball and should be a champ (at baseball or basketball instead).  The video is really hilarious.

We love Mabel!!!!  We are so glad that she is in our family.  She is so well behaved, sweet, smart, and loving.  She is so excited to be 5 years old and is really looking forward to starting kindergarten, learning to tie her shoes, learning to do a hand stand, learn to read, and getting her own room!  We love you, Mabel.
