Halloween 2012

Growing up as a child, I hated halloween.  I didn't like the costumes or the face paint or begging for candy.  My dislike for the holiday must have skipped a generation because my kids love Halloween.  Max said, "My three favorite seasons are: Halloween, Christmas, and Birthdays."  This year Max was a police man, Mabel was a vampire, Sam was Superman, and Alex was a bee (until he changed his mind to be Elmo in the afternoon).

Mabel and Sam were in the parade at the elementary school.  I didn't get to see it, because Max had a parade at his preschool at the same time, but Nick said it was fun!

Max's preschool class before the parade.

I stopped by the pet store after the parade to get crickets for the lizard and found this Halloween costume for 75% off, so I picked it up.  "Little Red Sugar-hood"

After an afternoon of trick-or-treating at Kristen's work (just the boys since Mabel was still at school), we had some mummy-dogs and headed out trick-or-treating.

On Monday night, we carved pumpkins....here's the results....the kids told us what shape to cut where and we cut it out for them.

Nick dressed like a pirate.

And I dressed as Velma from Scooby Doo.  The kids almost lost it when I said, "Jinkies".

Aunt Kristen came over for trick-or-treating and helped the kids organize their loot.  My favorite part of the day was hearing Mabel talk about her candy, "I love Kitty-Kats and Milkin' Ways" (Kit-Kats and Milky Ways)

I'm glad my kids enjoy Halloween so much.  It is fun to relive childhood through their eyes without actually having to wear the itchy wigs or face paint!
