Family Vacation 2012

Ideally, we would have loved to go to Disneyland, San Diego, or Oregon for our family vacation, but because we didn't get around to planning our vacation until May/June....we didn't have a whole lot of options left.  So we picked an available condo-unit at Wolf Creek, Utah.  While debating whether or not to go to San Diego, we asked the kids what they remembered most about our last vacation, and they said "the pool", so we figured anywhere would be exciting for the kids.

We stopped at the Treehouse Museum in Ogden on our way up the canyon.

During lunch, Mabel's tooth fell out.  Surprisingly enough, they have a tooth fairy at Wolf Creek, too!

Nick and the boys especially liked playing with the knight's castle.

Testing out his hand as a cowboy.

Milking a cow.

Ogden city is covered with decorated horses this time of year....and they all had to hop on for a ride.

On Thursday, we went to Pineview Reservoir, which was probably the highlight of the trip.  The kids were so cute, every time a boat created "waves" they would say, "looks like the Tide's coming in".  Or they would stop and want to look for shells.  Makes me wish we lived closer to the beach!

Alex looked like a little turtle in his life jacket.

Blowing bubbles

Making sand castles

The problem with eating lunch at the beach, is that your sandwich really turns into a "sand-wich".  We were all grinding sand in our teeth by the end of the day...Alex had it all over his tongue.

We stayed at the World Mark condo, which Nick's mom owns.  They are a really ideal place for a large family to stay.

I splurged and bought "Ice Age" 1 and 2 and the kids watched them for the first time each night we were there.  They absolutely loved them!

On Friday, we went to Lake Causey and did a little hike.  It was pretty, but the water was really low.

After our hike, we stopped for slushies that turned our tongues colors.

We stopped at a really fun park in Huntsville.

And we even stopped by David O. McKay's old house.  The kids were all excited since we have been learning about the prophets, but after President McKay's nephew proceeded to give a 1/2 hour history (in the hot sun), the kids had all made their way back to the van and didn't even want to go into the house.  Now, if we even mention David O. McKay, they get really mad and don't even want to talk about it.....I hope we didn't scar them for life!

On Saturday, we went to Snow Basin and rode the tram to the top.  Max was a little scared at the beginning until he realized that we weren't going to fall.

At the top....we wanted to hike up to the ridge line, but two runners just ahead of us ran right into a large rattle snake.  So I chickened out and we did another hike.

And what do you do when you get home from vacation....clean up.  Overall we had a great time.  The kids will probably remember the pool the most, but I guarantee that they had fun.  They had so much excitement when we first got there, that the guy below us called the main office on us for noise violation even though it was only 6:30p.m.  I have never seen them all so excited as when we first arrived at the condo.

Looks like you had a lot of fun. I have to say each picture of Sam that has his socks pull up tight remindes me of someone else in the family! :)
