Butterfly Lake Camping Trip

Well, we did it....we went camping this summer with the whole family!  We went up to Uintas to Butterfly Lake.  We had a great time.

We left early Thursday morning and made it to our campsite for lunch. 

Max just liked the meat and cheese of his lunchable....all at the same time, that is.

Before we left, Mabel grabbed a camping hat and the boys of course had to grab a hat too.  However, we don't have any "real" hats for the boys, so Sam grabbed a plastic fireman's hat and Max grabbed his ferry boat hat and they made sure they wore them on the hike.  We definately looked like the village people.

We hiked to Ruth Lake.  It was about 3/4 mile one-way and everyone did pretty well on the way there, but Max's energy and attention was gone by the way home and he had to be carried most of the way down.

Once we got to Ruth Lake, we let the kids do what they had wanted to do all day....throw rocks into the water (throwing rocks was the main activity of our camping trip).

Max said his favorite activity was playing in the dirt.

And Sam's was throwing "big" rocks into the water.

And Mabel's was picking wildflowers.

The kids slept a lot better than the pregnant woman in the tent.

Before we left our campsite, we threw more rocks into the lake.

And picked the rest of the wildflowers.

On the way home, we drove around Mirror Lake.  We also stopped at the Bald Mountain overlook (elevation 10,700 ft.).

We also stopped at Provo River Falls.

We stopped for a picnic lunch before heading back home, and took our last opportunity to throw more rocks into the water.  We got home around 2:30 on Friday afternoon and immediately showered and began laundry.  It was a very successful camping trip and Nick is already looking forward to the next one.
