Just another week

This past week we started a fire in the upstairs fireplace.  We had never started a fire in our upstairs fireplace, so we did it for FHE.  It was very nice and I'm sure we'll be doing it quite often from now on.  Nick gave a wonderful family home evening lesson on being thankful.

This week I gave Nick, the boys, and Mabel a haircut, cleaned the bathrooms, went grocery shopping, mopped the floor, did way too much laundry, went to enrichment, raked up the last leaves, mowed the lawn for the last time this year, cut the flowers down for winter, shopped for lamps and end tables, and finally finished cleaning the blinds.  My brother Tyler, stopped by on Wednesday for a nice visit--he was in the area and stopped by for about 20 minutes.  It sure brightened my day, even though I was still in my pajamas at 10:30 in the morning!  We finally called in some professional help to remove the tree stump from the plum tree.  I couldn't resist and put up our downstairs Christmas tree this week (Nick's making me wait until after Thanksgiving to decorate upstairs!) and Nick put up our outside Christmas lights yesterday.  So all in all--I think we're ready for the snow to fall and bury us in.

On Saturday, I took Mabel and Sam to Lowes to get some Draino (my hair always clogs the drain in the shower).  They had a kid clinic so I signed them up.  They gave them aprons, safety goggles, and a snowman craft.  The kids were scared to do the craft when we got there, so we brought them home and had daddy help them hammer the snowmen together.  The kids loved hammering out on daddy's workbench.

We're going to my parents house for Thanksgiving this year.  This year I'm thankful for a wonderful, patient, and handsome husband, two potty-trained kids, a sweet princess for a friend (Mabel), a bug-loving mamma's boy (Sam), and a bruiser boy who loves to give kisses (Max).  I'm grateful for good parents and siblings, their families, and examples.  I'm grateful for a warm house and that we have enough to eat.  Happy Thanksgiving!

Dad and I have enjoyed looking at this post. Nick looks younger than I've ever seen him look....he looks so cute sitting on his legs with his hands folded in his lap. He could be one of the kids (I'm sure he is)!

Then there's Sam with his safety goggles on upside down and Mabes with her big and very cute smile. The snowmen are very cute. We can see how proud the kids are of their work.

We giggled and found a lot of love for our cute family looking at this post. We're more thankful than you are with our absolutely wonderful and precious family....We love you more!!
